Update from the Dubai One Loft Pigeon Race.
We already have more than 2000 pigeons in our lofts. A big thank you to all our agents for this success.
Social media
Our Instagram account and private Facebook account are very successful. We are reaching over more than 1000 visits on our social media every day. Below you can find a list of our accounts.
Operations
We have three large groups in our lofts. One group of around 1200 pigeons that have been in our lofts for more than 2 months. Another group of around 700 has just left quarantine and has started with entry trap training and vaccination box training. The 3rd group has pigeons that have entered in the last 2 weeks. They will remain in quarantine and close observation for at least another 2 weeks. During this time they will be treated and vaccinated.
Vaccination/Sick bay
At this moment we have less than 2% mortality during quarantine. This is a great number. Every pigeon that shows symptoms of sickness is removed from the loft and treated individually. A lot of birds recover in our sick bay but we keep insisting on following our vaccination obligations. Pigeons that are not vaccinated often become sick in a loft and although we vaccinate all pigeons at least 4 times, unvaccinated pigeons will struggle to develop well. It would be good to remind your clients about the importance of vaccination.
It is our ambition to be a pigeon-friendly race and we aim to look for the fastest racing pigeons in the world rather than the best survivors.
Water
Although drinkable water is expensive in Dubai we change water twice daily to avoid contamination.
Food
The pigeons are being fed twice a day by our loft managers and can eat as much as they want. Food is removed only after one hour and only because of hygienic reasons. We believe that our pigeons should have the best food available. And we therefore invest a lot of resources giving them the best food on the market. Very soon we will give more information about our suppliers.
