Glenn Raymann performing well in his first participation

Glenn Raymann, a Dutch pigeon fancier, had remarkable success during the first season of the Dubai One Loft Pigeon Race. His top-performing pigeon clinched the 75th position out of 972 competitors in the Arabian Gulf Race while achieving an impressive 6th place out of 982 pigeons during Hotspot 7. These achievements collectively secured Glenn the 107th spot out of 3,825 pigeons in the Super Ace International Competition.

Glenn’s enthusiasm for the race was evident as he promptly confirmed his participation for the upcoming season. In an interview, he shared insights into his experiences and strategies from his inaugural season in the race.

What would you consider your loft’s most remarkable success?

Glenn Raymann

Glenn Raymann: Our greatest success with my loft was winning the youth championship. We won the 1st youth championship in East Brabant.

Could you tell us about the best pigeon you’ve ever had?

Glenn Raymann: Absolutely, that would be my Ace Pigeon, the one we call “The 31”. This exceptional cock descended from a direct lineage of Leo Heremans, from whom I acquired many excellent racers. The first offspring I bred from it turned out to be an instant winner, marking the beginning of a remarkable journey with “The 31”.

Speaking of lineages, which breeds or lines have you cultivated in your loft? Are there any unique breeding couples?

Glenn Raymann Over time, my loft has primarily been dominated by Bart and Nance van Oeckel pigeons, who have performed remarkably well. In recent years, I’ve also incorporated pigeons of the Bart Geerinckx strain and acquired some top pigeons from PIPA. Notably, in the last two years, I introduced pigeons of the Romario line (Hans-Jörg Hallmann) for the OLR and bred them together, which gave fantastic results. We even made it to the final in Dubai with a pair from this line, adding to an impressive list of prizes.

The golden pair, breeding two top performers at the Dubai One Loft Pigeon Race

Glenn Raymann: One notable couple in my loft consists of a son of Sky Fighter, Drapa and a daughter from Tijn, from H. Doldersum & Zn. This pairing produced a youngster in 2022 for a fellow fancier from my association who went on to become the First Ace pigeon in Oss Region that year.

Do you have any tips for fellow participants to prepare for races?

Glenn Raymann: Breeding from your best performers is paramount. Additionally, maintaining the health and strength of your pigeons is crucial in ensuring the breeding of strong, healthy offspring.

Finally, what do you like the most about the Dubai One Loft Pigeon Race?

Glenn Raymann: What I find most captivating about the Dubai OLR is the level of engagement and involvement from the organizers. We, as participants, are kept informed daily with videos and updates on the pigeons’ progress. This level of transparency and communication creates a sense of connection with the event and allows us to monitor the training and condition of the pigeons closely. It truly showcases a highly committed organization.
